When You Have a Globe Telecom Issue, Go to a Business Center

At least that's what I learned in the past week. In my previous post, I briefly said something about a horrible experience with Globe Customer Service Agents. Looking back, I suppose I was exaggerating. It was not good, but it was not really that horrible.

It started on the 30th of June, when I dialed 211 (every Globe subscriber knows this number by heart) to inquire about the possibility of getting an iPhone 4 since my contract is ending in August. They have this rewards system which gives you all sorts of bonuses after a certain period has gone by - in this case, the end of my lock-in period.

There really was no issue with the first call - everything was straightforward. I could get the iPhone for x amount under my current plan. It would be delivered when I got back from Cebu. Perfect.

Then it was pointed out to me (after I had hung up) that I would be making huge savings on the x amount I needed to pay for the phone if I upgraded my plan. Within 30 minutes of the first cal…

STOP

I went to bed an hour ago but it seems that even with only 4 hours of sleep last night (or this morning, rather), my insomnia is not going away. Worse, as I try to lull myself to sleep, I can't help but think of the Apple iPhone.

I had convinced myself last week that I would NOT be getting one. I was considering the Sony EricssonG900 or C905 OR the Nokia E63. These are all more affordable choices.

Yet in SM today, after we were done with the groceries, the iPhone beckoned again. I got the papers needed for the postpaid line and was told that they do not carry the phones I wanted. The very eager and helpful salesman said the very words I was trying to forget "Eh, ma'am, bakit di na lang iPhone? (Why not the iPhone instead, ma'am?)"

A week's worth of thinking about alternatives and "deciding" not to get the iPhone...all gone to waste...STOP!!!

Globe DSL Slowdown

My Globe DSL suddenly slowed down last night. It happens once in a while, but only for short periods of time. When I logged on about an hour ago, though, nothing had changed. It takes several minutes for some pages to fully load and it is bugging the crap out of me.

Is anyone else on Globe experiencing this? I can still browse and work but it is taking up my time. I should probably call their hotline but I am not in the mood to be given the runaround, which almost always is the case.

Oh well, this is better than no Internet at all, right?

Good News for Globe Postpaid Subscribers

Livi has been a Globe postpaid customer for quite some time and she sent me this:

Pretty neat, huh? Unfortunately, I am not a current subscriber and I do not know anyone who averages this much per month.

Apple iPhone to Be Launched By Globe: August 22

So the iPhone is going to be launched by Globe in a couple of weeks. I have been waiting for this for a long time and now it's just anti-climactic.

Now I knew that it was NOT going to be cheap. BUT Globe's prepaid price is just outrageous - PhP 48,000++!!!

For postpaid, the plans for data are not so attractive either. I think I am going to have to wait this out. Screenshots from Globe's site:



Tough Luck

Sometimes I really think that I have the worst luck in the world - at least when it comes to customer service. You know how I have been whinging about my Internet connection for the past weeks. I thought that my troubles were over when the guys from Globe came over yesterday and hooked us up. The connection was great.

Until around 4:30 this afternoon, that is.

The connection went down. I called customer service. They did basic trouble shooting which I already did before I called them. They couldn't fix it. They said the cabinet was probably down. They will file a report. Follow it up.

I called again a few minutes ago. Same thing. Tech will work on it and it should be up in 24 hours, 5 days max.

I don't believe this, really. Why does it always happen to us? I am on the slooow Smart Bro now. Should I keep it as back up?

On a positive note, we worked on our budget and it looks pretty good. We just need to stick to it and we're already running into rough waters. ;)

I'm On a High

Yep, I am definitely on a high. We set out to do 4 things today.
Get approved for a Globe landline and Internet connection bundle.Get my NBI clearance renewed.Go to UP to get some things done.
Maybe get a new toy.I got 3 out of 4 PLUS we got to visit Sam.

We weren't able to go to UP because we ran out of time. It took us several hours to get the Globe thing done, not to mention the NBI clearance. After that, we just went around Megamall looking for my new toy. Unfortunately, we didn't find any. They all had Acer Aspire One units and Asus Eee PCs.

So off we went to SM North, meaning to look around and then visit Sam. We found ONE unit of the MSI Wind at this litte store called Micro Station. They had it for 0 percent interest on my card for 6 months! Needless to say, I just had to get it.

Smart Bro Woes

I was planning on working for a couple more hours but the speed of my Internet is just not making it possible. I am getting some work done but at a pace that is just making me irritable. I would be better off getting some sleep. BUT before that, let me let off steam...

There is no excuse for rudeness. I wonder if that guy from Smart Bro knows all about customer service.

You see, we have been having problems with our connection for 2 or 3 weeks now. I have called several times to complain but it was only last Wednesday that someone actually came over to fix things. Unfortunately, they did not do any good. True, they changed the antenna. They said they increased the parameters gave me all that technical drivel but the fact is that the we still have to wait several minutes for a single page to load!

So the technicians called the RG office of Smart Bro - whatever that means. Unknown to the guy they were talking to, he was on loud speaker and I could hear every word that he was sayin…
