We Talk, We Listen

I have always known that communication is an essential part of marriage. You stop communicating and your marriage is headed for trouble. I have never been a good communicator - orally, that is. I dislike expressing my thoughts and feelings unless I do so in writing. Jerry is the opposite. I guess that's why we encounter rough sailing at times.

The past week or so is the perfect example of learning how to communicate for both of us. It is hard enough that we are from different cultural backgrounds. It is hard enough that we are two very different people. Yet, once again, communication has proven to be the key to getting past these differences.

I am just thankful that we both are taking steps towards effective communication. We're not experts - far from it! - but we're learning. That counts, doesn't it?
