Notes to Self in Times of Turmoil

It hasn't been an easy time for me lately. Not for a while. There have been sporadic periods of pure awesomeness, but I have to admit that I am not handling things very well. I have a lot to be thankful for, but I also have a lot that stresses me out. Or maybe, I am adding to the "ambient stress" myself. Who knows?

I found this apt poster on Pinterest, which I think will be in my head regularly.

I know, the "Keep Calm" meme is overused, but hey, you have to admit this one has its merits. I haven't been to the beach since God knows when (well, I actually do know, but it's just been far too long), and while I probably won't find myself in that environment any time soon, imagination does get me quite a long way.

Here's another note to myself.

Sometimes I get so tense and panicky that I just forget to breathe. Literally.

I don't know if any of these apply to you, but in case you're going through some turbulent times, try keeping these two images (messages) in mind. They might help.

P.S. I've posted this verse earlier, but it is one of the best things to keep repeating to yourself when you're feeling low.

“Let everything happen to you
Beauty and terror
Just keep going
No feeling is final”

  1. Just dropping by to say hi. This post resonated with me today.

Oh I miss the beach. It's been years.

Sometimes I can imagine myself with a small beach house that I rent out, with the kids and my wife homeschooling nearby.

    I just write.

Occasionally we'd have guests, fellow bloggers writers who just want to escape brown water. We could light a bon fire, forget about the cares of the world and just write.

Then make a heckuva lot of money too. :)

Hope everything is well with you.
