I've never been one to expend much effort on celebrating holidays, but I do enjoy watching others go out of their way. I appreciate Christmas and all it stands for, but I do not relish the thought of having to go look for unique and appropriate gifts (although custom usb drives are always fun to look at). This year, maybe I'll be a Scrooge again.
Halloween is perhaps more interesting, in terms of people really exerting effort. Many of those in my circle really get into coming up with the craziest costumes, and this year is no different. I saw photos all over the place (yeah photos - I have been living like a hermit this past week), and all I could say was WOW.
From gladiators (Spartacus) to witches to Top Gun characters to GI Joe - how and why do they do it??? They look awesome, that is true, but what do they get out of donning those costumes? Am I missing something here?
